This session will introduce participants to the autism spectrum,

and provide appropriate interventions to use when supporting

individuals with autism.

4 Goals/objectives participants will gain from attending:

Participants will be able to:

  • Identify characteristics of autism
  • List early indicators of ASD
  • Understand how ASD affect behavior
  • Identify basic supports to use with people with autism

The Alaska Early Learning Guidelines (ELG) the training addresses: 

  • Children trust and interact comfortably with familiar adults
  • Establishes an attachment or bond with a consistent adult other than the primary caregiver
  • Responds appropriately to adults’ verbal greetings
  • Children develop friendships with peers
  • Plays side-by-side with another child, at times
  • Observes and imitates another child’s behavior or activity
